BOSTON (AP) - NBA scoring leader Dwyane Wade missed the Miami Heat's game against the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night because of a right hip flexor.
The Heat star had played all 66 games, his longest streak of his career, this season before sitting out. The team did not say how long he would be sidelined, but he wasn't ruled out of games Friday night at New Jersey and Sunday against Detroit.Daequan Cook started in Wade's place.
Wade is averaging 29.9 points, 5.1 rebounds and 7.6 assists. Injuries limited him to 51 games in each of the past two seasons.
His absence came with the Heat in fifth place in the Eastern Conference with a 36-30 record.
Wade scored 32 points on March 11 in a 107-99 win over Boston in Miami.
In his next game, he had 50 points, matching his career high, in 52 1/2 minutes Saturday in a 140-129 triple-overtime win over Utah. On Sunday, he managed just 18 points in an 85-77 loss at Philadelphia
"I didn't have the energy," he said after the loss.
The Heat did not play Monday and Tuesday.
