Wizards -- Eddie Jordan was fired as coach Monday after opening the season 1-10 without injured starters Gilbert Arenas and Brendan Haywood. Director of player development Ed Tapscott was named interim coach. The Wizards' record matches the worst start in franchise history; the only other time the team was 1-10 was in 1966, when it was called the Baltimore Bullets.
Bobcats -- The team signed center Dwayne Jones in the hopes that the 6-foot-11 journeyman can help with rebounding and bolster a thin frontcourt. Jones has played in 74 games over three seasons with Boston and Cleveland, averaging 1.3 points and 2.4 rebounds. Heat -- Forward Dorell Wright will have debris removed from his surgically repaired left knee today. The team said that Wright is not having anything repaired in the joint, but that team doctors believe "loose bodies" within the knee are disrupting his rehabilitation and recovery. Wright had surgery on March 3 to repair a torn left meniscus.
