ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Mario Chalmers, Shooting guard Dwyane Wade, Small forward Quentin Richardson, Power forward Michael Beasley, Center Jermaine O'Neal. Bench -- Forward Udonis Haslem, Forward Dorell Wright, Center Joel Anthony, Guard Carlos Arroyo, Guard Daequan Cook. PLAYER NOTES: --G Dwyane Wade destroyed Cavaliers F Anderson Varejao with a first-quarter one-handed, soaring dunk in transition, drawing howls from the crowd and a grin from interested bystander Michael Jordan, who watched from the stands alongside Pat Riley. Continued jawing between Varejao and Wade led to a double-technical foul for the duo.
--F Michael Beasley needed to dominate his match-up against Cleveland F J.J. Hickson. Instead, it mostly was a standoff. Beasley did have two dunks and a block of Hickson at the rim, and looked more athletic than usual. Coach Erik Spoelstra this time gave Beasley deserved fourth-quarter minutes. This was a step forward for Beasley.
--G Carlos Arroyo made a dramatic entrance against Cleveland, with three quick baskets at the top of the second quarter. It is a bit confusing why he doesn't play more, especially with the way G Mario Chalmers struggled against G Mo Williams.
MEDICAL WATCH:
--G Daequan Cook (shoulder) returned after missing five games with a strained right shoulder.
--G Chris Quinn (bruised foot) is out of his walking boot and available for his first action of the season. He has yet to make it off the inactive list.
--C Jermaine O'Neal is playing despite a broken nose, declining to wear a mask.
