--C Jamaal Magloire took one of the 12 active spots on the opening-night roster against the Knicks, but was not in the building because of his suspension for his preseason fight with Pistons F Jonas Jerebko. He also will be in the same situation for Friday's game in Indiana, before being eligible to return Sunday against the visiting Bulls.

--C Jermaine O'Neal had arguably his best game with the Heat since being acquired at last season's trading deadline from the Raptors, with 22 points and 12 rebounds, his Heat high. He was spry and active, an encouraging sign for the coming season.

--F Michael Beasley made the most of his move into the starting lineup at power forward with 21 points on efficient 9-of-14 shooting. This time he didn't settle for the jumper. Now the goal is to get more than three rebounds.

MEDICAL WATCH:

--G Chris Quinn (bruised foot) is out of his walking boot but still limited in practice.

--F Udonis Haslem (groin) played in the season opener, but acknowledged discomfort.

--F Dorell Wright (knee) continues to experience swelling, after undergoing procedures in each of the previous two seasons.
