PLAYER NEWS: --G Patrick Beverley, a second-round pick, has signed with Greek team Olympiakos. The Heat acquired Beverley, the 41st pick of the draft, from the Los Angeles Lakers for $1.5 million. Beverley, who played college basketball at Arkansas, played in Ukraine last season. --G Chris Quinn remains the only backup point guard on the roster, and it appears it might remain that way for a while. The Heat has been looking to unseat Quinn, the top backup behind starter Mario Chalmers, all summer, but Miami's plan now is to acquire another point guard through a trade. Miami opens training camp Sept. 28.
--F-G Quentin Richardson could compete for the starting small forward job along with F James Jones, F Dorell Wright and F Yakhouba Diawara. The Heat lost F Jamario Moon to Cleveland via free agency.

Patrick Beverley, G, 6-1, Ukraine/Arkansas (second round) -- Beverley, taken with the 43rd pick, played professionally in Ukraine last season, leaving Arkansas after his junior year. He's aggressive and can play both guard positions.
Robert Dozier, F, 6-9, Memphis (second round) -- There's a chance he plays in Europe next season. Miami believes he can play small forward although he was a power forward in college.
