ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Mario Chalmers, Shooting guard Dwyane Wade, Small forward Shawn Marion, Power forward Michael Beasley, Center Udonis Haslem. Bench -- Guard Marcus Banks, Center Mark Blount, Guard Shaun Livingston, Guard Daequan Cook, Guard Chris Quinn, Forward Dorell Wright, Forward Yakhouba Diawara, Center Joel Anthony, Center Jamaal Magloire, Forward James Jones.
PLAYER NOTES: --G Marcus Banks, a point guard who will spend most of the season at shooting guard, earned playing time because of his aggressive attitude and it paid off in the opener. Banks finished with four steals in 27 minutes.
--G Shaun Livingston played in Wednesday's opener. It was his first NBA appearance since he sustained a gruesome knee injury on Feb. 26, 2007, while playing for the Clippers. Livingston tore three ligaments in his left knee and dislocated his kneecap.
--G Chris Quinn, who appeared to be the starting point guard until about 10 days ago, didn't play at all in Wednesday's opener at New York. That was a bit surprising.
MEDICAL WATCH:
--F James Jones (right wrist surgery) is out until mid-January. Jones, Miami's best three-point shooter, thinks he'll be back sooner, however.
--C Jamaal Magloire (broken bone left hand) is out until mid-November. Miami needs his bulk in the middle.
--C Alonzo Mourning (knee surgery) is out until sometimes in January. Mourning, 38, isn't on the roster but Miami expects him to return.
