--F Shawn Marion has recorded four consecutive double-doubles and back-to-back games with 17 or more rebounds. Marion had nine first-quarter rebounds against New York. Marion ended with 15 points and 17 rebounds, his ninth double-double in 15 games with Miami.
--Miami signed F Bobby Jones to a 10-day contract. Jones played part of the season with the D-League's Sioux Falls (S.D.) Skyforce. Jones, 6-foot-7, played college basketball at Washington and was selected by Minnesota in the second round of the 2006 draft with the 37th pick. Jones played four games with Houston in late February and March of this season, and prior to that he was with Memphis and Denver, with whom he started the season. Jones played in 44 games for Philadelphia last season. He ended with five points and five rebounds in 20 minutes Wednesday.
--Miami's loss Wednesday was its 26th home loss, the most since it lost a franchise-worst 30 home games in 1989-90 season, its second of existence. Miami, 6-26 at home this season, has nine home games remaining. It must win six to avoid its worst-ever home record of 11-30.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "You can turn that pick into three players if you want, probably, if you didn't like who was at the top of the list. That's what the No. 1 pick does. It gives you a piece of property that's very valuable. As far as rebuilding the team quickly, the assets are there. The opportunities are there." -- Coach Pat Riley, on the possibility of the Heat getting the top pick in the 2008 NBA Draft.
