--Miami has the No. 2 pick in the June 26 draft, and team officials have been visiting, and plan to visit, a number of the top players, including F Michael Beasley (Kansas State), G Derrick Rose (Memphis), G O.J. Mayo (Southern California), C Brook Lopez (Stanford), C Kevin Love (UCLA) and G D.J. Augustin (Texas).
The Heat has said it would entertain trade offers but hasn't said whether it plans to keep the pick or trade the pick. Most think the Heat will keep the pick and take either Beasley or Rose. --The Heat hired David Fizdale as an assistant coach. Fizdale spent the last five seasons as an assistant coach with Golden State and Atlanta. Fizdale joins Ron Rothstein, Bob McAdoo and Keith Askins on Erik Spoelstra's coaching staff.
--G Dwyane Wade, who has missed 31 games in each of the last two seasons, expects to be named to the Olympic basketball team.
"I still have 2 1/2-three weeks to get my timing back on the court," said Wade, who was bothered by left knee tendinitis last season. "I'm just happy to be healthy, happy to be out there on the court again feeling good."
