Miami Heat Notes, Quotes 2009-08-11
--G Dwyane Wade hasn't signed the three-year contract extension the Heat extended and it appears he'll wait until season's end to sign a six-year extension. But that doesn't mean the Heat isn't still trying to lure Wade to sign right now. Riley said he speaks with Wade about once a week regarding a variety of topics, including the extension.

"We continue to talk with (agent) Henry (Thomas) and Dwyane about this," Riley said. "There's no timetable on it. We haven't put a timetable on it."

--Heat president Pat Riley didn't like having F Carlos Boozer talk about his desire to play for the Heat. Boozer, who has one year and $12.6 million left on his contract with the Jazz, talked openly this summer about his desire to play for Miami. Boozer even said he had an agreement with the Jazz that he'd be traded. Utah denied such an agreement existed. The entire episode made Riley uneasy.

"I wasn't comfortable with it," he said of Boozer's talk. "I really don't know what kind of agreement he and Utah had."

--G Allen Iverson and G Jamaal Tinsley are on the back burner for the Heat. Miami would seem to need help in the backcourt behind Dwyane Wade and Mario Chalmers but president Pat Riley said that's not necessarily the case. He said the team is happy with backup point guard Chris Quinn and that Wade handles the ball lot, too, so there's no need to do anything drastic. Riley also said both Iverson and Tinsley would be signed to one-year contracts if they sign with Miami.

"All options are still open," Riley said regarding Iverson and Tinsley, "but they're only going to be open for the right situation and deal for us. I'm not going close the door on anything but I'm not bottom-feeding either."

QUOTE TO NOTE: "Do I have any real angst about whether Dwyane would decide to leave us? Absolutely. He's one of the greatest players in the world." -- Heat president Pat Riley on G Dwyane Wade.
