--The Heat is 17-1 when attempting more free throws than its opponent. Miami was 19-for-22 (.864) on Wednesday against Washington. The Wizards were 9-for-13 (.692).
--C Jamaal Magloire had been drawing lots of attention for Monday's dunk against Orlando in which he jammed it right-handed and then used his left hand to cover his eyes. But there's no meaning to that action. "I'm just having fun," Magloire said Wednesday. "I'm enjoying myself out there and we're winning games."
G Dwyane Wade doesn't mind.
"You all saw him in Oklahoma City when he put the hand over the eyes," Wade said, referring to when Magloire debuted the dunk. "He does that all the time in practice, but now he's brought it to the game."
--Coach Erik Spoelstra said there's one part of the All-Star selection process he hates: The politicking.
"I received a ton of things, letters and phone calls from people from other teams and agents," he said. "There's quite a bit of it going on and I understand it. I probably should play the game, too. I know it's important to the guys. I don't really agree or like the process."
QUOTE TO NOTE: "They've been absolutely critical. And I don't know if anybody knew what we could expect coming into the season." -- Coach Erik Spoelstra on G Mario Chalmers, F Michael Beasley, G Daequan Cook and C Joel Anthony, all rookies or second-year players.
