Miami Heat Notes, Quotes 2009-11-19

Miami Heat Notes, Quotes 2009-11-19--Even with last season's competitive seven-game opening-round playoff series, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra does not necessarily see his team as yet having a rivalry with the Hawks.

"I mean, anytime you play somebody in the playoffs, obviously everything gets heightened, and it went seven games and it was a very physical, intense series," Spoelstra said of the series lost by his team.

"But I don't think it's really a rivalry until that happens two or three times in a row in the playoffs."

--F Udonis Haslem was held out of Wednesday night's game against the Hawks after aggravating a shoulder strain during the latter stages of Tuesday's home loss to the Thunder.

Haslem has been dealing with a troublesome left shoulder for more than a week. He aggravated the injury in Saturday's victory over the Nets and went Sunday for an MRI, which came back negative. But he left for the locker room Tuesday before the conclusion of the loss to the Thunder.

"I took a pretty hard fall on the same shoulder, late in the game, when I went for the shot fake on Nick Collison and I came down right on my shoulder," Haslem said. "It was just something that I've been dealing with, but it got a little worse."

Haslem said he was advised to sit out Wednesday.

"I would definitely play," he said. "But just talking to the trainers, it's probably not the right time to do something like that. You don't want it to be an issue longer that it needs to be."

The seventh-year veteran said he plans to get up some shots Thursday in Toronto and then be back in his sixth-man role for Friday night's game against the Raptors.

Coach Erik Spoelstra said sitting out the Hawks game was the prudent approach.

"He's a tough guy," he said. "He'd like to play through it. But he jammed it pretty good."

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I had some good shots. I just missed 'em. I'm trying to get my way out of this. It's just part of the long season." -- G Dwyane Wade, after shooting 6-of-18 against the Hawks a night after shooting 6-of-19 against the Thunder.
