--Center Jermaine O'Neal was held out of Saturday night's game against the Nets due to a bruised left hip. O'Neal was injured in Thursday night's 111-104 loss to Cleveland, when he was kneed by LeBron James, on an unsuccessful drive by the Cavaliers forward. "His knee when into his hip. It's just a bruise, that's all it is right now," coach Erik Spoelstra said.
The Heat did not practice Friday, and O'Neal then sat out Saturday morning's shootaround at AmericanAirlines Arena. He was ruled out an hour before Saturday's tip-off.
"He feels much better than he did (Friday)," Spoelstra said. "He felt like he got hit by a train (Friday, but it felt better. He was able to move around. But it's not quite the type of relief in movement that we were hoping for."
Joel Anthony started in place of O'Neal, the Heat's only lineup change this season. Anthony scored two points in 32 minutes.
O'Neal said he plans to return Tuesday against Oklahoma City.
--O'Neal's absence opened the door for Jamaal Magloire's first action of the season. Magloire was suspended for the season's first two games due to a preseason fight, then was not utilized in the next six games.
But the 6-foot-11 veteran wasn't necessarily inactive. Instead, he took up spinning to maintain his conditioning.
"I've done it twice this week," said Magloire, who took the classes at Equinox in Miami Beach. "I go on the side so I can watch everybody."
He said he got the idea from former Heat center Alonzo Mourning.
"That's what he told me he did to stay fit," he said.
Magloire said he is down to 252 pounds from last season's 262, and has dropped from 10 percent to 8 1/4 percent body fat.
But, no, he skips the "jumps" portion of the sessions.
"The bike isn't big enough," he laughed.
Magloire played 5 minutes, 17 seconds against the Nets and did not score.
--Yes, Dwyane Wade admitted, he's been spending recent days reliving Thursday's fierce dunk on Cavaliers forward Anderson Varejao.
"It feels like I've never dunked on anyone before, based on how many responses I got to that dunk," he said. "Because of the atmosphere and because of the game, the hype, that's what made it special."
QUOTE TO NOTE: "It was set up for me to get the ball and do whatever. I was able to cut back for a split second and get to my comfort hand. What can I say? God is good." -- Dwyane Wade, on his game-winning 3-pointer with one-tenth of a second to play against the Nets.
