Miami Heat Notes, Quotes 2009-11-09

Miami Heat Notes, Quotes 2009-11-09--When it comes to Nuggets F Carmelo Anthony, count Heat guard Dwyane Wade as a fan of his former 2008 Beijing Olympic gold-medal winning teammate.

"He's a man possessed right now," Wade said of his friend, fellow 2003 lottery pick and 2008 Beijing Olympic gold-medal teammate. "I've watched him play and I've enjoyed the show he's put on."

While Wade is in no way abdicating his scoring crown less than two weeks into the season, he views the former NCAA champion at Syracuse as a worthy successor.

"He's playing great," Wade said, "and if he wants to lead the league in scoring, that's fine."

Anthony outscored Wade 30-22 Friday night, although Wade got the victory.

--Coach Erik Spoelstra appreciates the passion when it comes to F Michael Beasley. He also appreciates the significance of winning.

So amid outcry that he feature the 2008 lottery pick more often, Spoelstra said he takes no umbrage.

"I don't have a problem with it, either," he said. "I like the interest that people have in him right now, because they see the potential that we see every day.

"To me, when I look at the big picture of this, this is part of a young player's development. And, ultimately, it's about winning games. But we're developing guys at the same time."

--With a three-day break following Friday's game against the Nuggets, Spoelstra decided to hold out Daequan Cook for a fourth consecutive game to rest the guard's strained right shoulder.

"If you just walked in the gym and saw him doing that workout, you'd probably think he could play," Spoelstra said. "There's no restrictions with it. But he hasn't done anything full contact right now."

--Nuggets coach George Karl said he continues to derive satisfaction from watching Wade play.

"I've always enjoyed watching point guards play the game," he said, "but I think Dwyane Wade might be one of my favorite players to watch on film and see. He has a spirit to him, he has a bounce to him, he has an electricity to him that very few players have."

QUOTE TO NOTE: "As I continue to keep saying, it's going to take that for us to be successful. I enjoyed it. I really did." -- G Dwyane Wade, on the scoring balance in Friday's victory over the Nuggets.
