Miami Heat Notes, Quotes 2009-01-07
--Miami has scored more than 100 points just twice in its last dozen games. It is 2-0 in such games. Miami has scored 90 or fewer points eight times in its last 12 games. The Heat is 2-6 in those games.

--G Daequan Cook's offense has attracted lots of attention this season (his 75 three-pointers are tied for sixth in the league) but defense remains the way he got his playing time.

"Daequan's confidence is obviously at an all-time high for him," coach Erik Spoelstra said. "Defensively he's given us a lot of activity, he really is. I don't have a problem throwing him on twos, threes or even occasionally on other teams' point guards. And I think that's probably where he's made the biggest strides."

--Coach Erik Spoelstra said he's not sure whether his team needs a tweak before the Feb. 19 trade deadline. "They way we're moving forward is, this is our group," he said. "We're spending all of our time and thoughts and preparation with this group."

QUOTE TO NOTE: "Jamaal Magloire has a role, and that role is to beat the hell out of people." -- Orlando coach Stan Van Gundy after Saturday's Orlando-Miami game.
