--Coach/president Pat Riley said that while scouting college prospects at the NCAA Tournament he's seen "at least 20 other players" that interest him and he's written "a lot of notes" about those guys. Miami, which still has the worst record in the league, is hoping it gets the No. 1 pick, of course, but it can't fall further than No. 4 if it has the worst record.
--Coach Pat Riley downsized one recent comment. "When I said the other day we want to go from worst to best, obviously I didn't mean a world champ," he said. "But we want to go from worst to best in something. I don't care if it's the best defensive team, the best rebounding team, the best at something. I think that's got to be our goal."
--Miami, the worst rebounding team in the league, has been pounded on the boards recently. Boston outboarded the Heat 54-31 and had 22 offensive rebounds on Sunday. New York had a 69-42 advantage two games ago and had 27 offensive rebounds.
"The one area we really want to try to focus on is the rebounding department," coach Pat Riley said.
